Step 1: Override the State section
To enter more than four states on a W-2, you must override the desired section of Form 4137.
Step 2: Enter the first four states
Enter the first four states on the W-2.
Step 3: Copy and enter remaining states
Select the Copy W2 tab, then enter the remaining states on this W-2 copy.
Enter at least $1 in the Wages box to allow e-filing.
❌ Common Errors
If you cannot enter more than four states, make sure you override the desired section of Form 4137 before entering additional states.
If e-filing is not allowed, confirm that at least $1 is entered in the Wages box on the additional W-2 copy.
