Go to Schedule B, line 5a, and link that line (press F9) to the Dividend Statement.
Step 2: Enter Exempt Interest Dividends in the correct column
Use this to ensure the exempt amounts are placed in the right field.
Exempt Interest Dividends are entered in the last column.
Step 3: Do not include exempt interest in ordinary dividends
Use this to avoid misreporting the dividend type.
Note that the first column (Ordinary Dividends) should NOT include the Exempt Interest.
