If the preparer does not have a NYTPRIN number for the state of New York, use one of the NYTPRIN exclusion codes listed below, and enter it in the correct place in SureFire.

Use an exclusion code when the preparer does not have a NYTPRIN number for New York.
📋 NYTPRIN Exclusion Codes
Enter one of the following exclusion codes:
- 01 Attorney
- 02 Employee of attorney
- 03 CPA
- 04 Employee of CPA
- 05 PA (Public Accountant)
- 06 Employee of PA
- 07 Enrolled agent
- 08 Employee of enrolled agent
- 09 Volunteer tax preparer
- 10 Employee of business preparing that business' return
🧾 Where to Enter the Code (NY IT-201)
Step 1: Find the correct location on the NY IT-201
The code can be entered at the bottom of Page 4 of the NY IT-201 form in the Preparer information section.
