⚠️ Before You Begin

You will need:

  • Submission ID (an electronic tracking number for the return)
  • E-help Desk (Practitioners Only) phone number: (866) 255-0654

When the IRS has no record of the return, contact the E-help Desk (Practitioners Only) at (866) 255-0654 and provide the Submission ID to the representative.

Step 2: Find your Submission ID

Use this when you need to...

The Submission ID is an electronic tracking number for the returns.

Where to find it:

  • In the return, it is located on the EF Info form.
  • In the E-file Manager, look under the column labeled E-file ID.
  • In SureFire, it is located on top of the printed form 8879 or by hitting your F7 key while in the open return.
